Japan’s next prime minister

September 21, 2006 at 3:44 am (Japan, Politics)

Shinzo Abe was elected to replace Koizumi as the president of The Liberal Democratic Party, the ruling party of Japan, according to the Wall Street Journal. This apparently paved the way for his presidency. Next Tuesday, a special session will be held to elect Japan’s new prime minister.

Abe will be a critical figure on China-Japan relations. He has already announce to continue Koizumi’s assertiveness on foreign policies. This is of course not a good sign.

Earlier, Washington Post covered Abe’s new vision on nation and on foreign policies.
